Vita

Annette Hess grew up in Hannover and now lives in Berlin and Lower Saxony. She studied painting and interior design followed by scenic writing. Annette worked as a freelance journalist and assistant director before launching a successful career as a screenwriter. Her critically acclaimed and popular television series »Weissensee« and »Ku'damm 56/59/63« revolutionised German television. Annette received numerous awards, from the Grimme Award to the Writers’ Prize to the German Television Award. Her series »We Children from Bahnhof Zoo«, for which she worked with a writers’ room for the first time, premiered on Amazon Prime in March 2021. Hess is currently working on a series adaptation of her own historical novel »Deutsches Haus« about the first Auschwitz Trial in Frankfurt.
