PABLO KNOTE born in Munich in 1994, grew up on the Ammersee in the tranquil village of Bierdorf. Since childhood an enthusiastic cartoonist and storyteller. After graduating from high school, studied Japanese studies for several semesters without success. Big film fan since childhood, but cineaste only since 2009. Moment of enlightenment: Kenji Mizoguchi's masterpiece "Ugetsu Monogatari". Since 2011, in-depth exploration of the medium as a freelance film historian and researcher on numerous English- and German-language websites. 2012 Founded the online encyclopedia www.nippon-kino.net, still Germany's largest website for classic Japanese cinema focusing on the 1950s and 1960s. Made several dozen short films, as well as authored some 200 film-analytical writings. Gave film lectures at the university in Munich for one year. Studied Directing at the Internationale Filmschule Köln from 2019 until 2023.
